Stranger Things season 4 is trending across the web, and not just because of the highly anticipated return of Eleven and the gang. Since season 4 was released, Google and Amazon searches for Stranger Things-related music have increased dramatically. With it’s first feature in episode 4, "Running Up That Hill”, a 1985 hit song from artist Kate Bush, went viral and joined the billboard top 100 chart for the first time in decades. By the finale on July 1st, where the song was featured again, searches related to “Kate Bush” had increased 181.4% on Amazon and 590.5% on Google across July.
Other than “Kate Bush”, searches for Eddie Munson, Hellfire Club, Metallica, and Master of Puppets have all seen a significant boost in recent weeks. “Eddie Munson” searches have increased 448.6% on Amazon and 244.1% on Google between May 2022 and June 2022. “Hellfire Club” search has increased 249.3% on Amazon and 218.9% on Google during the same period. "Master of Puppets" searches have increased 245% between Jun 26th and July 10th on Google while “Metallica” searches have increased 65.2% during the same period on Amazon. Eddie Munson is a new character that was introduced in season four, and his rock-star good looks and edgy style have already garnered him a fair amount of fans. Eddie was wearing Hellfire Club T-shirt while playing "Master of Puppets”, a song by American heavy metal band Metallica in season 4 episode 9.
Whether you're a diehard fan or a casual viewer, it's clear that Stranger Things continues to be one of the most discussed shows on the web. The downstream impact on search trends from the show is substantial, content creators and brands should take note.
